Russian territorial defenders to receive Combat Veteran status recognition
The Habarovsk Krai Social Fund has made significant changes to the application process for combat veteran status, but not for combat disabled status, according to reports from the Russian Government website and Habarovsk Krai Today news agency. These changes come as a response to the ongoing special military operation in various territories.
Combat veteran status is now granted to participants of the special military operation who served or performed missions in specific regions. These regions include the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) since February 24, 2022, the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions since September 30, 2022, territories of Ukraine, including the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, and Russian border and adjacent regions under attack or military provocations such as Belgorod, Bryansk, and Kursk regions, the Temryuksky district of the Krasnodar Territory, Kantemirovsky and Rossoshansky municipal districts of the Voronezh Region, the cities of Anapa, Novorossiysk, and Gelendzhik (Black Sea resort cities).
This status also applies to law enforcement officers, military personnel, and members of volunteer formations involved in repelling invasions or attacks in these territories, especially where Ukrainian forces have conducted incursions or missile strikes. Additionally, servicemen from the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry engaged in explosive ordnance activities in these special military operation areas are also eligible for army veteran status.
The updated list of territories includes 11 objects, reflecting the recognition of the combat efforts not only in Ukraine proper and the Donbas region but also in key Russian border territories and Crimea that have experienced direct military threats or operations related to the conflict.
In a separate development, individuals who have been injured, concussed, or disfigured as a result of combat can apply for combat disabled status. The eligibility for this status is due to injuries, concussions, or disfigurements resulting from combat.
It is important to note that only those who participated in the special military operation zones are eligible for combat veteran status. The status of combat veteran is related to special military operation zones, and those who defended territories near these zones can also receive combat veteran status.
Military personnel, law enforcement officers, and volunteers who participated in repelling the invasion in the Kursk region can now receive combat veteran status, making them eligible for the benefits and recognition associated with this status.
