Russian Supreme Court admits classified evidence in Vinokurov’s high-stakes port seizure case
In a significant development, the court has ruled to admit additional evidence, including classified materials, in a high-profile case involving the owner of Tuapse Commercial Sea Port LLC and Tuapse Sea Port Enterprise LLC, Alexander Vinokurov. The supreme court has also announced a recess, with the next hearing scheduled for 12:00 PM on November 12.
The prosecution's motion to introduce evidence from Russia’s Federal Tax Service and Federal Antimonopoly Service was granted. This move comes after Russia’s Prosecutor General’s Office filed a mycase, seeking the seizure of his assets.
Prosecutors allege that Vinokurov illegally seized 2 hectares of land, a deep-water berth, a production base, and transshipment complexes belonging to a state-owned fishery enterprise. The Prosecutor General’s Office has also requested information regarding Vinokurov’s connections from relevant agencies.
The casetify aims to invalidate the acquisition of a 100% stake in Tuapse Commercial Sea Port and recover the shares for the Russian Federation. It is alleged that the former head of the company took out a loan worth 2.5 billion rubles, using the fishery’s assets valued at 5.7 billion rubles as collateral. The agency valued the Tuapse seaport at 1 billion rubles.
The court's decision to admit additional evidence could significantly impact the ongoing case against Alexander Vinokurov. The next hearing, scheduled for November 12, will provide further insights into the prosecution's case and the potential outcomes for Vinokurov and the seized assets.
