Russian small businesses turn to online platforms for fast blue-collar hiring
Russian Small and Microbusinesses Most Often Seek Blue-Collar and Frontline Workers, with Such Vacancies Making Up 78% of Demand, Avito Rabota Finds
Small and microbusinesses in Russia primarily look to hire blue-collar and frontline workers, with these roles accounting for 78% of job openings, according to analysts at Avito Rabota. Employers prioritize filling positions quickly, the platform reports.
One of the key challenges for small and microbusinesses is recruiting staff. Often, company owners themselves must handle hiring if their business lacks an HR department. To address this, job platforms are developing specialized tools to automate the recruitment process.
Research shows that major employment platforms host a large pool of job seekers. Meanwhile, businesses are looking for blue-collar and frontline workers in 72% of cases and office employees in 59%, Avito Rabota data reveals. In Russia's regions, demand for blue-collar and frontline staff reaches 78% of the total labor market.
A survey conducted by the platform among employers found that 84% appreciate the convenience of posting job listings in this format. Seventy-nine percent cited ease of use, while 72% highlighted hiring speed. For 45% of employers, the number of applicants was a key factor, 42% valued the platform's user-friendliness, and 17% emphasized how quickly vacancies were filled.
"For small businesses, where owners juggle both operational and HR tasks, time is a critical resource," says Yelena Kotusova, CMO of Avito Rabota. "We want to remind entrepreneurs that even without an in-house HR team, hiring can be simple and efficient—so they can focus on what matters most: growing their business."
