Russian army's imminent new military attacks forewarned by Zelensky - Russian President Zelenskyy issues a warning about a forthcoming military escalation by the Russian army

In the Dobropillia sector of Donetsk region, the recent Russian offensive has seen a marked escalation since the spring of 2025. The conflict intensified significantly in August, with Russian forces attempting to advance into frontline villages and penetrate Ukrainian defenses.

The Russian troops pushed to seize villages including Kucheriv Yar, Zolotyi Kolodiaz, and Vesele. Despite managing to partially cut the T-0515 Pokrovsk-Dobropillia highway, their advance was limited by the lack of heavy armored support.

However, Ukrainian forces have shown resilience, successfully repelling the Russian advances. Key settlements near Dobropillia, such as Zolotyi Kolodiaz, have been recaptured, diminishing the operational threat to crucial Ukrainian logistics routes like the T0514 supply road connecting Dobropillia to Kramatorsk.

The fighting around Dobropillia remains intense, involving Russian infiltration tactics exploiting frontline gaps and Ukrainian counterattacks to push back. The use of Ukrainian drones and limited Russian maneuverability have constrained Moscow’s potential to restore large-scale operational initiative in the sector.

Currently, the situation is dynamic, with Ukraine stabilizing the front and limiting further Russian advances. Despite the tactical successes, Russia continues to aim for operational breakthroughs. The offensive impacts Ukraine's defensive posture, forcing resource redeployments and risking broader multiple-front pressure.

This localized offensive underscores the continued frontline volatility in Donetsk Oblast and the ongoing contested nature of the broader war in Eastern Ukraine. The ongoing conflict, however, is not limited to Dobropillia, with Russia attempting new offensives elsewhere to stretch Ukrainian defenses.

In other developments, US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin will meet in the US state of Alaska to discuss the Ukraine conflict on Friday. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is not invited to the meeting.

The city of Dobropillia in the Donetsk region remains threatened by the Russian advance, with the nearly four-year-long Russian invasion attempts to establish a ceasefire having so far failed. The heavily contested and destroyed industrial city of Konstantinovka is also under threat.

A map published by "DeepState" shows the current situation of the corridor under Russian control, with the advance of Russian units capturing parts of a highway connecting important settlements in the Donetsk region. The Ukrainian army in the region reported exhausting defensive battles against superior Russian forces.

The coming days are likely decisive for evaluating the situation, according to the US-based Institute for the Study of War. Moscow demands that Kyiv cede the four partially occupied eastern Ukrainian regions of Saporizhzhia, Donetsk, Luhansk, and Kherson, as well as the annexed Crimean Peninsula, and abandon Western military aid and NATO membership.

Despite the losses and demands, Ukraine has rejected these terms as unacceptable. The conflict continues, with both sides showing no signs of backing down. The international community watches closely, hoping for a peaceful resolution to this long-standing conflict.
