After a series of strategic victories on the battlefield, President Putin has slipped off to Kursk for a covert troop morale-boosting session. Kremlin mouthpiece, Dmitry Peskov, confirmed the visit to the press. Russian state TV captured Putin, decked out in camo, receiving an update from the top military officer, Valery Gerasimov, on the situation in Kursk.

This marks Putin's first trip to Kursk since the Ukrainian troops' audacious border storm last summer, Russian news agency TASS divulged. Ukraine's soldiers stormed across the border in August and snatched control of several hundred square kilometers in Kursk.

Following the assault, the Russians swiftly reclaimed significant swathes of territory that were previously under Ukraine's control, claims Moscow. With the recent territorial gains, the Kremlin is buzzing with talk of an "advantageous trend" in Kursk. On Tuesday, Moscow announced they'd recaptured "more than 100 square kilometers" in the district.

Side note: It's unclear whether Putin's visit will spark motions for further Russian advances in Kursk, only time will tell! 🕰️
