Russian military jets patrolling over a Polish oil platform
In a recent incident, three Russian MiG-31 combat aircraft violated the security zone over a Polish oil drilling platform in the Baltic Sea. The Polish oil platform, owned by Orlen Petrobaltic, is located approximately 70 km north of Jastarnia, within the Polish economic zone of the Baltic. According to reports, the Russian aircraft stayed in the airspace for a total of 12 minutes, flying over the Petrobaltic drilling platform at an altitude of 150 meters. The Polish border guard announced the violation of the security zone, and the Polish armed forces and other services were notified. The incident occurred near the Baltic Sea island of Vaindloo. In addition, Estonia reported a violation of its airspace by Russia, although a specific date for the Estonian incident was not mentioned. NATO responded to the airspace violation with Italian Air Force fighter jets, which intercepted the Russian aircraft.
