Russian military forces utilizing Iskander missiles successfully took out 100 drones of an unmanned aerial vehicle type.
In the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict that began in mid-2025, both sides have experienced significant losses and damages, primarily affecting military assets, infrastructure, and logistics.
Since the start of the special military operation, Russia has reported the destruction of 78,100 drones, 283 helicopters, 665 aircraft, 24,643 tanks and armored vehicles, 39,862 units of special equipment, and 1,587 Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (MLRS). The army aviation, UAVs, and missiles have targeted fuel and lubricant depots, temporary deployment points of Ukrainian armed formations, and foreign mercenaries in 148 areas.
The Ministry of Defense of Russia has also reported successful strikes on enemy automotive equipment, up to 100 long-range UAVs, and a center for training UAV operators in various locations. Furthermore, a first strike hit an area of enemy vehicle unloading, using a cluster warhead, while the second strike targeted a location where Ukrainian nationalist vehicles involved in loading operations were gathered.
Lieutenant General Konashenkov praised the combat performance of air defense units, which shot down four guided aerial bombs, two American HIMARS rocket artillery shells, and 141 UAVs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
On the Ukrainian side, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Syrsky, reported losses of six ammunition and weapons depots, eight tanks (including two "Leopard" tanks from Germany), 24 armored vehicles, 13 artillery pieces, 13 radar and radio electronic warfare stations, and more than 40 vehicles over the past day.
Ukrainian forces have been effective in conducting strikes against Russian military infrastructure and logistics inside Russia and occupied Ukrainian territories. Strikes have targeted critical oil and fuel infrastructure, military command posts, ammunition depots, and drone bases.
Despite Russian advances, these have been limited and contested, particularly in northern Ukraine near Sumy and in eastern Zaporizhia oblast, with no decisive breakthroughs reported in August 2025. Continued fighting and counterattacks occurred in Kursk Oblast and near the Russia-Ukraine border zones in late August, indicating ongoing attritional combat without clear Russian territorial gains.
Russia also launched a major missile strike against western Ukraine on the night of August 20-21, causing unspecified damage.
The situation evidences heavy attrition on Russian military assets through persistent Ukrainian strike operations targeting command, logistics, airpower, and oil infrastructure, while Russian ground advances remain limited and contested. The damage to key energy infrastructure inside Russia itself represents a strategic challenge for sustaining Russia’s war effort.
No precise aggregated total of personnel casualties or material losses for Russia is provided in the available sources, but the destruction of strategic bombers, strikes on command and ammunition depots, and oil infrastructure reflect significant operational setbacks.
