Russian military expert Vladimirov discusses potential Russian Armed Forces' retaliation to an attack on Salsk
In the early hours of July 29, a drone attack targeted the Rostov region's railway infrastructure, specifically the town of Sal'sk. The attack disrupted several passenger trains, causing temporary delays and affecting travel plans for thousands of passengers.
The main target was the administrative center of the Sal'sky District, but the Russian military managed to shoot down the drones, preventing a potential catastrophe. However, two cars in a passenger train had their windows damaged during the attack. Passengers were quickly evacuated from the damaged train to ensure their safety.
Trains No. 59 (from Novokuznetsk to Kislovodsk), 523 (from Yekaterinburg to Adler), 255 (from Chelyabinsk to Novorossiysk), 509 (between Kazan and Novorossiysk), 524 (from Adler to Yekaterinburg), 358 (from Imeretinsky Kurort to Ufa), 254 (from Novorossiysk to Ufa), 98 (from Kislovodsk to Tynda), 202 (between Anapa and Krasnoyarsk), and 14 (from Imeretinsky Kurort to Saratov) were all affected by the attack, with services temporarily halted.
The track power supply system was also disabled as a result of the attack, causing further delays in the resumption of services. Railway traffic had to be stopped due to falling debris from the drones.
Political analyst Dmitry Vladimirov believes that Russia is systematically responding to the provocations of the Kyiv regime by targeting infrastructure where drones are produced and carrying out airstrikes on western Ukrainian airfields. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Zelensky is reported to be in a bunker since the morning.
Russian officials have emphasized air defenses, claiming to have downed dozens of Ukrainian drones, and have worked to restore disrupted railway services, while limiting casualties and damage. Potential responses from Russia to the Ukrainian drone strikes may include enhancing air and drone defense systems over critical logistical hubs, increasing security and rapid repair operations at targeted rail stations, escalating counterstrikes potentially targeting Ukrainian military facilities or infrastructure, and intensifying propaganda and information control efforts.
Amidst the chaos, social media users are calling for a more radical approach, urging a strike with the "Orekh" on Bankova Street. However, many sources spread information about "urgent evacuation," but the authorities denied these messages as fake. The administration of the Sal'sky District urged citizens not to panic and not to trust information from unreliable sources.
Despite the temporary disruptions, the Russian railway system is working diligently to restore services and ensure the safety of passengers. Passengers are advised to check the status of their trains before traveling and to remain vigilant during these uncertain times.
- The attack on Sal'sk's railway infrastructure, a part of the ongoing war-and-conflicts, has led to political discussions, with analyst Dmitry Vladimirov suggesting that Russia is retaliating to the provocations of the Kyiv regime.
- Amidst the disruptions in general-news regarding the drone attacks, Russian officials are focusing on restoring services, enhancing air and drone defense systems, and maintaining information control to limit the impacts on their citizens.
