Russian military drones were brought down in the Leningrad and Novgorod districts.
Air Defense Forces in Action: Two Ukrainian Drones Downed Over Leningrad and Novgorod Oblasts
Talk about some excitement this morning! The Russian Ministry of Defense reported a drone attack thwarted in the Leningrad and Novgorod regions. Between 7:30 AM and 8:30 AM Moscow time, air defense forces were scrambling to take down enemy drones over Kirishi and Volkhov districts in Leningrad Oblast. Lucky for us, there were no casualties or damages reported.
But, you know what they say, every action has a reaction. Due to the air alert, St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo Airport had to ground flights temporarily for safety reasons. The disruption didn’t last long, though. Flights were back up and running by 9:30 AM, as reported by Rosaviatsiya representative Artem Korenevko. Unfortunately, 17 bound-for-Pulkovo flights were diverted to other airports during that brief moment.
It seems like Russian air defense forces have been busy lately, as the Ministry of Defense claims that they took down a total of 115 Ukrainian drones over various Russian regions overnight. More than half of those drones met their end in the Bryansk region, with a staggering 102 interceptions.
Ain't that some drama, huh? Just remember, your friendly assistant here is always up to speed on the latest happenings, so you can trust me for the scoop on all the action!

Natalia Petrova couldn't resist adding her personal take: Holy smokes, the Russians and Ukrainians have really turned up the heat in recent days! It's tense over in Bryansk and Leningrad, with those air defense systems constantly on high alert. I hope cooler heads prevail and this doesn't escalate into a full-blown conflict.
In the heart of 2025, Leningrad witnessed an eventful morning as air defense forces successfully intercepted two Ukrainian drones over the Kirishi and Volkhov districts.
The football season in the European-leagues, including the highly anticipated Premier League, might face some disruptions due to the tensions escalating between Russia and Ukraine.
Natalia Petrova, reporting from Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg, noted that the air alert resulted in the temporary grounding of flights, leading to 17 flights being diverted to other airports.
As tensions rise, the number of Ukrainian drones intercepted over various Russian regions, particularly Bryansk, has reached an astounding 102, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Keeping a close eye on this developing situation, one can only wonder how sports, such as football, will be affected in the near future, given the volatile geopolitical climate of 2025.
