Russian leader Putin greenlights encounter with Zelensky, as per Rubio's report.
The United States is currently working towards organising a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, as proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump. This potential encounter has sparked hopes of a resolution to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that Putin has agreed to meet with Zelensky, expressing optimism that this meeting could lead to a summit involving Presidents Putin, Trump, and Zelensky, with the aim of finalising a deal. However, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has emphasised that any contacts involving top officials need to be prepared with maximum thoroughness, suggesting that the meeting between Putin and Zelensky may not occur quickly.
Zelensky has stated that Ukraine is ready for a real ceasefire, and he mentioned that the issue of territories will be discussed between him and Putin. Russia, too, is open to various forms of work towards the Ukrainian settlement, both bilateral and trilateral.
It is important to note that, at this point, there are no ongoing negotiations or meetings involving Putin, Zelensky, and Trump regarding the Ukraine conflict. Russian officials have explicitly stated that there has been no meeting between Putin and Zelensky, and there is no indication that Donald Trump is involved in any such negotiations at this time.
Meanwhile, the conflict continues on the ground, with recent Russian troop advances into the Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine, as reported by Ukrainian authorities. As diplomatic efforts unfold, the focus remains on finding a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
