Russian drinkers now favor Chinese beer as sales surge 74% in 2026

Russian drinkers have turned to Chinese beer in growing numbers this year. In the first two months of 2026, consumption surged by 69% compared to the same period in 2025. Sales figures also climbed sharply, rising by 74% in monetary terms. Between January and February 2026, Russians drank 5.4 million liters of Chinese beer—up from 3.2 million liters in 2025. The most popular brand was Harbin, with 2 million liters sold. Tsingtao followed in second place with 920,000 liters, while Cheerday ranked third at 748,000 liters. Corona, though Mexican-owned, is brewed in China and came fourth with 625,000 liters consumed.

Low-alcohol Chinese drinks under 7% ABV, including mead and cider, saw an even bigger jump. Consumption more than doubled in early 2026. Regional data showed Chukotka Autonomous Okrug leading in per capita intake, with 1,500 liters per 1,000 residents. Primorsky Krai followed at 729 liters per 1,000 people.

The sharp rise in Chinese beer and low-alcohol drink sales marks a clear shift in Russia's beverage market. With Harbin and Tsingtao leading the way, demand has grown across multiple regions. The trend reflects both higher volumes and increased spending on imported drinks.
