Russian Comedian Nurlan Saburov Faces 50-Year Entry Ban After Protest Violations

Russian comedian Nurlan Saburov has been banned from entering the country for 50 years. The decision follows a series of administrative offences recorded in early 2025, including repeated violations of protest laws. Authorities detained him at Sheremetyevo Airport in mid-May after he allegedly breached migration rules.

Saburov's legal troubles began in January 2025, when he was fined 20,000 rubles for taking part in an unauthorised mass event. Further fines of the same amount followed on February 3 and March 3 for similar offences. These repeated violations formed the basis of the long-term entry ban under Federal Law No. 114-FZ.

The comedian's international tour has also been disrupted. His scheduled stand-up show in Shanghai on April 4 was called off, with tickets never put on sale. Performances in Guangzhou on April 2 and Beijing on April 3 now face potential cancellation as well. In Russia, his shows typically sold for between 5,600 and 20,000 rubles per ticket. Despite the ban, Saburov retains significant assets in Russia. He owns a luxury cottage and land plot in the Moscow region, valued at around 115 million rubles.

The 50-year entry ban marks one of the harshest measures imposed under Russia's migration and protest laws. Saburov's detention at Sheremetyevo Airport in May 2025 triggered the enforcement of the penalty. The decision also affects his ability to perform in neighbouring regions, with multiple shows now in doubt.
