Krasnodar Airport Reopens, Boosting Aviation and Business Activity

After a three and a half year hiatus, Krasnodar's airport has resumed operations, marking a significant milestone in the city's development. The reopening of the airport is seen as a major boost to both aviation activity and business activity in the region.

The first international flight from Krasnodar's airport departed to Istanbul, with the airport set to establish air connectivity with seven Russian cities. The high demand for flights has resulted in the first flights being sold out at 100% capacity. This enormous demand, coupled with restrictions on the capacity of aircraft arrivals and departures, has led to high prices for flights, with current prices ranging from 29,000 to 42,000 rubles.

Experts predict that prices will decrease by October as the number of daily flights reduces. The antimonopoly service has shown interest in the price dynamics at Krasnodar's airport, aiming to ensure fair pricing for travellers.

The airport, which was the ninth busiest in terms of passenger traffic before its closure, will operate its terminal daily from 9:00 to 19:00. Up to five take-offs and landings will be conducted hourly at Krasnodar's airport.

The demand for hotels in Krasnodar has tripled following the airport's reopening. Krasnodar currently stands in third place in terms of demand for accommodation, after Sochi and Sirius. The average cost of accommodation in Krasnodar is 4,000 rubles.

In a radio interview, Alexander Polidi, the head of Krasnodar Krai, stated that the airport's opening is the most anticipated event of the past three years. He also mentioned that the new airport building will open in 2027. However, there are no specific details in the available search results about the persons or companies involved in planning the new modern terminal construction at Krasnodar Airport for the year 2027.

The reopening of Krasnodar's airport comes as a relief for many, as the city did not receive a modern new terminal, unlike Gelendzhik. Despite the high prices for flights, the reopening of the airport is a significant step forward for Krasnodar, promising increased connectivity and economic growth in the future.
