Headline: Russian-Belarusian Military Exercises "Zapad-2025" Conclude, Troops Begin Leaving Belarus

The joint military exercises between Russia and Belarus, known as "Zapad-2025," have come to an end. The exercises, which took place from September 12 to 16, attracted international attention due to their size and scope.

According to the spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, who spoke to "Ukrainian Truth," there was no activity towards the border with Ukraine during the exercises.

The final phase of the exercises took place at a polygon in Mulino, Nizhny Novgorod region of Russia, with Russian President Vladimir Putin observing the simulated defeat of an imaginary enemy and reaching an imaginary state border.

As the exercises conclude, the Russian military is leaving the Belarusian training grounds where the exercises were held. The movement of the troops is being closely monitored. However, the spokesperson could not confirm that all Russian military have left Belarus, but expressed hope that they will move in the right direction.

The "Zapad" exercises were expanded to the Kaliningrad region, located deep in Western Europe, on September 15. The exercises involved a total of 100,000 military personnel, 333 aircraft, around 250 ships, and 10,000 units of equipment.

Several countries, including Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia, took precautions during the conduct of the exercises. Poland closed its border with Belarus, citing national security concerns, while Lithuania and Latvia tightened security measures near their borders with Belarus and Russia. Only Poland fully closed its border to Belarus.

NATO maintained increased vigilance due to the "Zapad" exercises. The number of Russian military personnel in these exercises was less than in 2021, a fact that may have contributed to the reduced level of concern from some neighbouring countries.

Despite the conclusion of the exercises, the situation remains under close observation. The spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has reiterated the importance of maintaining a watchful eye on border activities to ensure the safety and security of Ukraine and its neighbouring countries.
