In the catch of a cold cuppa coffee in Russia's far-flung Vladivostok, a EU representative got her bones broken by a pair of heavy-hitters from the Russian secret service, according to a report by German newspaper "Der Spiegel." On May 26, as the sun crept over the horizon, the unnamed Romanian diplomat, on a business trip, was put firmly in her place by a pair of goons who stepped out of a car and pummeled her.

Not much is known about the bruised EU gal's current condition. The Romanian government was as tight-lipped as a clam when asked about it.

A spokesperson for the EU Commission did, however, confirm that the investigation is underway, though mum's the word for now. A Russian rep in Belgium was called in for a chat to explain the fracas. The Commission is keeping a beady eye on the safety of EU diplo-types.

Let's face it, Russian intelligence ain't exactly known for their tickle fights. Rumors are rife that these thugs were from the FSB, Russia's homegrown spy game.

The EU ain't pleased about this domestic dispute gone wrong, emphasizing that their reps oughta be able to do their jobs without living in fear or cowering behind curtains. They gave Russia's ambassador in Brussels a stern tongue-lashing and slammed the breach of the Vienna Convention, which is basically like the rule book for diplomatic relations.
