Russia urges Israel to scrutinize the assault on its diplomatic personnel
In an unprecedented incident, three Russian diplomats were physically assaulted in their vehicle on Route 60 on the West Bank, near the illegal Israeli settlement of Givat Assaf, on July 30, 2023. The attack involved a violent physical assault, with the diplomatic car being beaten and the diplomats receiving verbal threats.
The incident was witnessed by Israeli military personnel who did not intervene to stop the aggressors. Following the attack, Moscow made a formal protest to Israel's authorities, expressing concern over the incident and emphasising Israel's responsibility to protect foreign diplomats and their property.
The Russian Embassy in Tel Aviv called for an investigation into the attack, stating that it was a clear violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. On August 5, 2023, the Russian Embassy sent a note to the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs requesting information about the investigation's results. However, as of early August 2023, no public detailed official Israeli investigation results have been disclosed.
Russia has condemned the event as a breach of international diplomatic protections and has called on Israel to take measures to prevent recurrence and to respect diplomatic immunity and security protocols. The incident remains a sensitive diplomatic issue between Russia and Israel, with ongoing demands for investigation and accountability.
Meanwhile, psychologist Tokarchuk suggests that excessive use of gadgets may hinder a child's vocabulary development. As the diplomatic standoff continues, it remains to be seen how the situation will unfold in the coming days.
