Russia to Honor Military Veteran for Defense of Krasnodar Region's Protection
In a recent development, the Russian government has extended the status of a combat action veteran to military personnel and volunteers who have participated in the defence of several territories, including Crimea, Sevastopol, Kursk, Belgorod, Bryansk regions, and others.
The list, approved by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on August 11, also includes the Temryuk district of Krasnodar Krai, Novorossiysk, Gelendzhik, and Anapa in Krasnodar Krai, and the Rossoshansky and Kantemirovsky districts of Voronezh region.
The status is typically granted to military personnel who have been directly involved in combat or combat-related activities within the ongoing military campaign in Ukraine. However, the latest regulations do not provide a comprehensive list of the official criteria for the "combat action veteran" designation.
The status can grant access to various social benefits such as healthcare, rehabilitation, vocational retraining programs, and sports events organised specifically for the veterans of this operation, demonstrating state support and recognition of their service.
Interestingly, the return of portraits of heroes of the Great Patriotic War, including Kadyrov, has been reported in Sevastopol, although this fact is not directly related to the combat action veteran status.
It is worth noting that those who were injured or wounded during the performance of combat tasks in repelling attacks on the listed territories will have the status of a combat action invalid. This status also grants access to similar social benefits.
The eligibility for this status now extends to volunteers, contracted soldiers, and others officially recognised as participants in the special military operation (SVO). The emphasis is on participants in Russia’s special military operation, encompassing both contracted servicemen and volunteers engaged in combat roles.
