Russia reportedly makes fresh attempts to infiltrate Poland's airspace with drones

The border between Poland and Belarus has remained closed since September 11, following an announcement made during a press conference by the Polish Interior Minister, Tomasz Siemoniak. The closure, which initially began due to joint military exercises by Minsk and Moscow that started on September 12 and ended on Tuesday, is currently indefinite as authorities are yet to certify it is safe to reopen.

The closure affects only land traffic, not drone traffic. However, the Polish government and the state news agency PAP have reported an increase in Russian and Belarusian drone attempts in recent days. These drone attempts occurred during the previous night, with the most recent one confirmed by the Polish government on Thursday. The drone attempts were made to access Polish airspace.

Last week, there was a large-scale Russian incursion into Polish airspace, prompting NATO to reinforce its eastern flank. No new information about NATO's response to the current border closure has been provided.

The border has been a source of tension for some time, with the closure of another feature requiring subscription or registration. Access to this feature is only available to registered users. It is unclear when the border will reopen, with the specific date yet to be announced.
