Russia Stands By as Peacekeeper in Israel-Iran Tensions
Russia Prepared to Serve as Intermediary in Tensions Between Israel and Iran
Russia's readiness to step in as a mediator in the heated Israel-Iran conflict remains unwavering, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated to reporters.
"Russia isn't backing down on its offer to jump in and facilitate peace talks if the situation calls for it. President Putin's proposals, previously discussed with President Trump, still stand firm. We're all set and ready," Peskov declared.
Russia's top dog, Vladimir Putin, has indulged in chats on this volatile subject with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and ex-U.S. President Donald Trump. In an interview with the American press, Trump hinted at supporting Russia's peacekeeping efforts, but a definitive global consensus on Russia's role as mediator is yet to form[1][2][3].
Peskov underlined that Moscow staunchly condemns actions leading to the dangerous upsurge in the Middle East and is prepared to take whatever measures necessary to tackle the crisis at its core.
The Kremlin delegate further remarked that the international community's reactions to Israel's attacks on Iran serve as a "powerful reminder"[4]. According to him, opinions among the international community were divided between those who criticized the initial skirmish and those who defended and justified Israel's actions. "This serves as a valuable lesson for everyone," he stressed.
