Russia Launches New Data Exchange Project for Migrant Children's Education

A new data exchange project has been launched to track migrant children in Russia. The initiative, an implementation of a law passed in July, aims to identify and support children of migrants who have left the education system.

The project, which involves multiple ministries, federal services, and regional authorities, will use databases like GIS of migration registration, 'My School', and Unified State Information Systems to transfer information. It seeks to provide the ministry with data on children of migrants not enrolled in schools or who have not undergone mandatory testing.

Only 12.6% of children of foreign citizens are currently enrolled in Russian schools. The project aims to adapt and reintegrate those who have dropped out. From April to August, documents were submitted for 23,600 children, but only 8,200 provided a complete set. Of those who took the mandatory test, 5,940 passed successfully.

The project is a significant step towards ensuring all migrant children in Russia have access to education. It will help the ministry identify those who need support and adapt them to the education system.
