Russia Launches Massive Drone, Missile Attack on Ukraine, Killing 4 Including Child
Russia has launched a massive drone and missile attack on Ukraine, targeting residential areas and causing widespread damage and injuries. NATO has accused Russia of violating its airspace, while Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has vowed to target Russia's war funding. The assault has led to a military response from neighboring Poland.
The assault, which took place overnight, saw Russia rain down 643 drones and rockets, including cruise missiles, across eastern, central, and southern Ukraine. The strikes targeted residential buildings, a cardiology center, and a kindergarten, wounding more than 40 people across several regions. Tragically, at least four people were killed, including a 12-year-old girl in the capital Kiev alone. A missile hit a residential building in the Kiev region, but miraculously, the children inside survived.
In response to the strikes, Poland scrambled jets to secure its airspace. Ukraine has also received a U.S.-made Patriot air defense system from Israel, with two more expected to arrive soon. NATO has accused Russia of being behind a series of violations of its airspace, while Ukraine's President Zelensky has vowed to target Russia's ability to fund the war and force Moscow to the negotiating table.
The latest round of attacks has once again highlighted the devastating impact of the conflict on Ukrainian civilians. With Russia showing no signs of letting up, the international community remains on high alert, with neighboring countries taking precautionary measures to protect their own airspace.
