In a chilling reminder of the ongoing conflict, a Russian airstrike on Kyiv left at least 14 people dead, according to initial reports from the city's military administration. The search for survivors under the rubble is still ongoing, as Kyiv Mayor Timur Tkatchenko announced on Telegram. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported over 130 injuries.
The assault sparked fires at 27 locations across the city, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko revealed. Various residential buildings, educational institutions, and critical infrastructure took a hit. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko echoed the distressing news on Telegram as well. According to "The Kyiv Independent," reporters heard drone and rocket noises and multiple explosions throughout the city.
In the aftermath of the devastation, power outages were reported in the capital, as per RBK-Ukraine. Authorities also reported numerous drone attacks on the port city of Odessa.
Ukraine's resilience against a three-year-long large-scale Russian invasion is being tested continuously. Although Kyiv boasts better air defense than many other cities in the country, it remains capable of withstanding heavy drone or rocket attacks.
Russia launched another wave of attacks using multiple drones on Sunday night, reports suggest. Approximately 125 were intercepted by the Ukrainian air force, while the remaining may have caused significant damage.[1] This scale of attack pales compared to the previous week when Russia utilized nearly 500 drones in a single night.[2]
