Russia Launches Anti-Drug Campaign Targeting Youth and Military Recruits
An All-Russian Anti-Drug Campaign titled Defenders of the Fatherland has launched in Nizhny Novgorod. Organised by the regional drug control department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the initiative targets young people, conscripts, and servicemembers. Its goal is to combat narcotics trafficking and misuse while promoting legal awareness and military-patriotic values. The campaign will run in two stages: from 1 April to 15 June and from 5 October to 1 December. Officers from the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs will lead the effort, working alongside schools, patriotic groups, and military units.
Activities will include preventive talks, educational workshops, and interactive sessions. A key focus will be fostering a firm rejection of banned substances among youth. Authorities will also implement measures to identify drug use among new recruits. Military-patriotic education forms another core element of the initiative. Meetings with veterans of the special military operation will highlight themes such as bravery, patriotism, and dedication to duty. The campaign further aims to encourage healthy lifestyles and strengthen respect for the law among the younger generation. Cooperation with Russia's Ministry of Defense ensures the programme aligns with broader national efforts. Organisers stress the importance of preparing young citizens to serve the country's interests responsibly.
The Defenders of the Fatherland campaign combines anti-drug enforcement with civic and military education.
