Smackdown in the East: Ukraine Counterattacks Russian Airbases, Engles in Flames
Russia is being assaulted by Ukraine.
Taking a stand against Russia's brutal aerial bombardment of Ukraine, the Ukrainian air force isn't sleeping on the job, targeting critical infrastructure and, allegedly, striking several military airbases.
While Russia's air assaults on Ukraine are plaguing the regions of Bryansk, Rostov, Saratov, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Oryol, Rяazan, Tula, Belgorod, Tambov, and the Crimean Peninsula, Kyiv levels the playing field with heavy drone strikes. The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed intercepting 174 drones over these regions, including three Neptune-MD guided missiles over the Black Sea.
Despite the Russian military's boasts of success, casualties remain. In the Saratov region city of Engels, a high-rise was hit in a drone strike, causing a fire at an industrial facility believed to be a refinery, situated near a Russian air force support base.
Engels is no stranger to conflict, hosting a massive Russian air force support base from which planes frequently take flight to engage Ukraine. Locals in Bryansk also reported explosions near a military airport, hinting at an ammunition depot hit, according to independent military blogger Jan Matveyev.
Ukraine Hits Back
Amidst the chaos, Ukraine reported successful attacks on several Russian military airbases, including the Engels airbase in the Saratov region and the Dyagilevo airbase in the Ryazan region near Moscow. These bases house air support and escort aircraft Russia uses to prop up rocket attacks on Ukrainian territory.
In the Tambov region, an attack targeted a facility, injuring three individuals. Meanwhile, railway infrastructures in the border region of Belgorod suffered an explosion, causing a derailment of a reserve locomotive. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, but the track was temporarily shut down.
Recent days have seen a surge in railway infrastructure attacks, such as the one that caused a passenger train derailment, leading to fatalities and injuries.

Definitely, Ukraine's counter-offensive focused on Russian military airbases, with Operational statues reporting attacks on bases in Murmansk, Irkutsk, Ivanovo, and Ryazan Oblasts. Among the targeted airbases, noteworthy mentions include:
- Olenya on the Kola Peninsula near Murmansk: A strategic location airbase that sustains the Tu-95 and Tu-22 bombers involved in missile attacks on Ukrainian targets.
- Ukrainka in the Amur region: A key airbase targeted by Ukraine.
- Irkutsk: A base in eastern Russia, also among the attacked bases.
- Ivanovo and Ryazan: Airbases reportedly hit in the operation, although specific damage details aren't widely confirmed.
In the ongoing global conflict between Ukraine and Russia, Ukraine has retaliated against Russian military airbases. Notably, the Engels airbase in the Saratov region and the Dyagilevo airbase in the Ryazan region have been targeted, as they house air support for Russia's rocket attacks on Ukrainian territory. Meanwhile, the political arena and general news outlets worldwide have been reporting discussions surrounding these war-and-conflicts, employment policies, and sports, while independent military bloggers provide insights into specific details of these military operations, such as Ukraine's drone attacks on various Russian airbases, including Olenya, Ukrainka, Irkutsk, Ivanovo, and Ryazan.
