Russia Introduces a Music Competition Aimed at Challenging the Eurovision Song Contest

In the world of music, there's a new competition making waves this weekend. Russia is hosting an international music competition named Intervision in Moscow at 7:30 PM CEST on Saturday. The event, which is positioned as a conservative cultural counterproposal to the Eurovision Song Contest, has attracted 23 countries, including former Soviet republics and BRICS group countries.

The competition, initially announced by President Vladimir Putin, is set to feature a diverse range of artists from across the globe. One of the most anticipated acts is Yaroslav Dronov, known as Shaman, Russia's entrant in Intervision. Shaman, an ultranationalist singer, is expected to bring a unique and powerful performance to the stage.

Joining Shaman on the international jury is rock singer Joe Lynn Turner. The jury, which will decide the winner, also includes Russian artists like Alexey Vorobyov and Aida Garifullina.

Intervision is not the only exciting news in Stuttgart today. There's also a development on the S-Bahn lines, with a signal disruption causing delays on all lines.

Meanwhile, in the sports arena, TSV Ehningen is aiming for an upset in an Oberliga wrestling match.

In a related note, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that Intervision will not feature 'perversions and mockery of human nature,' in reference to the Eurovision Song Contest, which is known for its liberal and LGBTQ+ friendly nature. This statement highlights the stark contrast between the two competitions.

The Eurovision Song Contest, which Russia has been barred from participating in four times due to its invasion of Ukraine, has been a staple in the European music scene for decades. However, Intervision seems poised to make its mark as a significant alternative.

The Intervision 2025 event in Moscow on Saturday at 19:30 featured 22 countries, primarily from BRICS, CIS, Latin America, and the Middle East, including Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Belarus, and Uzbekistan. The show, hosted by Russian artists, saw jury voting instead of public voting.

In addition to Shaman, the competition also includes Australian singer Vassy, who is representing the USA in Intervision. The competition promises to be a thrilling spectacle of music and talent from around the world.

As the countdown to Intervision begins, music lovers around the globe are eagerly awaiting the event. With its diverse lineup of artists and a unique format, Intervision is set to offer a fresh and exciting alternative to the traditional music competitions.
