Russia initiates aerial attacks on Ukraine, prompting Poland to mobilize its aircraft in response

Shortly after 0500 GMT, the Russian Federation ceased airstrikes against Ukraine, following a series of attacks that occurred on Saturday. The airstrikes targeted western Ukraine, with one incident happening near the border with Poland.

In response to these airstrikes, Poland, along with France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Romania, and Estonia, deployed aircraft within NATO frameworks to patrol and defend against potential Russian airspace violations and drones. These operations were aimed at securing Polish airspace and were conducted in Polish airspace.

The Ukrainian Air Force issued warnings of Russian missile and drone attacks, prompting the operational command of the NATO-member country to bring ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems to the highest state of readiness.

The Polish command announced that the actions were preventative in nature, aimed at securing airspace in areas adjacent to the threatened region. The operational command also reported the deployment of aircraft and the readiness of ground-based air defense systems.

The operation ended due to the ceasing of airstrikes by the Russian Federation, as reported by the Polish command. The Ukrainian Air Force has not issued any further warnings, and the airspace over Poland currently remains secure.

The Polish command announced the end of the operation by Polish and allied air forces, marking a significant moment in maintaining peace and security in the region. The cooperation within NATO frameworks once again proved crucial in responding to potential threats and ensuring the safety of its member countries.
