Hear the Latest: UK Defense Intelligence Predicts a Bloody 2025 for Russia
It looks like the Russian bear might be in for a tough year, according to UK Defense Intelligence. They've noticed an unsettling trend - the number of Russian casualties in the ongoing war against Ukraine continues to rise in 2025.
As reported by European Pravda, current estimates put Russia's total losses at an astonishing 950,000 casualties since the full-scale invasion in 2022. And it's not over yet. The first four months of 2025 alone have claimed approximately 160,000 lives.
The report further states that this trend could make 2025 the costliest year of the war in terms of Russian personnel, as these casualty rates seem likely to continue. April's losses, while slightly lower than the "very high daily rates" of late 2024, are still towards the high end in the overall context of the conflict.
Despite these heavy losses, Russia doesn't appear to be making significant headway in Ukraine. The update concludes that, so far, Russia has not been able to translate these continued heavy losses into significant advances.
In other news, the Estonian Defence Forces Intelligence Centre believes Russia is still engaged in a war of attrition, depleting Ukraine's military resources, with no signs of preparations for a potential truce. It seems the fighting shows no signs of stopping anytime soon.
