Russia Extends Business Inspection Moratorium to 2024, Boosting Expansion
The Russian government has extended a moratorium on entrepreneur inspections until the end of 2024, following a directive from President Vladimir Putin. This move has significantly reduced the number of inspections and allowed businesses to focus on expansion.
In 2023, only around 93,000 events were agreed with the prosecutor's office, a dramatic decrease of four times compared to 2022. This reduction is due to the increased use of preventive visits, which help businesses address issues without facing penalties. As a result, inspections have dropped nearly fivefold since 2019.
Entrepreneurs have benefited from the moratorium. They have been able to redirect resources to their current tasks and expand projects into new markets. However, exceptions to the moratorium include inspections of high-risk facilities, threats to life and health, national security, and based on risk indicators of mandatory requirement violations.
The extended moratorium on entrepreneur inspections until the end of 2024 is expected to continue supporting businesses in Russia. It allows them to focus on growth and development while ensuring safety and security in critical areas.
