In a significant geopolitical move, China has proposed hosting a summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin during the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. The proposed meeting is set to take place in Tiananmen Square, Beijing, on September 3, 2025, coinciding with a grand parade arranged by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Xi aims to use this historic event as a backdrop to bring together the two world leaders, strengthening historical ties and attempting to realign geopolitical relationships among the three countries. However, some analysts remain skeptical about the likelihood of Trump accepting the invitation.

Meanwhile, no phone call between Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is currently scheduled. Erdogan had announced plans to speak by phone with both Putin and Trump about a potential meeting on Ukraine in Istanbul, but there are no concrete developments on this matter.

In a separate development, Russia has expressed gratitude to Turkey for its efforts to resolve the Ukraine conflict. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Turkey serves as an acceptable venue for all parties involved in the negotiation process regarding Ukraine.

Peskov also addressed speculation about a potential meeting between Putin and Trump, stating that no specific preparations have been made. Putin is planned to visit China in early September, but there are no preparations for a potential bilateral meeting with Trump yet.

On a different note, Turkey has unveiled the most powerful non-nuclear GAZAP and HAYALET aircraft bombs. In another business-related news, the Aliyev family has bought into the Mandarin Oriental Bodrum in a $600 million deal.

In the realm of sports, Besiktas suffered a 4-2 defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk in a Europa League qualifier.

As for the ongoing negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, Moscow has proposed creating three online working groups for the third round of negotiations. The Kremlin is awaiting a response from the Ukrainian side regarding this proposal.
