Russia conducts attack on Ukraine, utilizing drones and missiles, reportedly causing death of 3 individuals, according to Kyiv's statement.

In the early hours of yesterday, Russia launched a massive drone and missile attack on Ukraine, targeting various regions across the country.

The central city of Dnipro was hit by a missile with a cluster munition, causing damage to a residential apartment building. One person was killed, and at least 26 people were injured in the attack. Regional officials shared pictures of the damaged building, people receiving medical help, and rescuers working on the site.

Tragically, two people were killed, one in the Chernihiv region in the north and one in the Khmelnytskyi region in the west of Ukraine, according to regional officials. The attack also resulted in the death of three people and injured dozens in Dnipro.

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy condemned the attacks, stating that every such strike is not a military necessity but a deliberate strategy by Russia to terrorize civilians and destroy infrastructure. He emphasized that Ukraine has proven it can defend itself and Europe, but for a reliable shield, they must act together.

Zelenskiy reiterated his appeal to Kyiv's Western allies, calling for more air defense supplies to be sent to Ukraine and stronger sanctions on Russia. Ukrainian air defense reportedly shot down 552 drones and 31 missiles during the attack, according to the air force.

Russia has shifted its air attack tactics on Ukraine around August to September 2025 by increasingly using large waves of kamikaze drones, notably the Shahed type, hypersonic ballistic missiles (Kinschal), and cruise missiles (Iskander). This marks a heavier reliance on drone swarms as part of the offensive strategy.

The attacks lasted about 11 hours in some regions, with air alerts being reported throughout the night. To ensure the safety of Polish airspace, Polish and allied aircraft were deployed due to the attacks also targeting the west of Ukraine near the border with Poland.

The attack targeted Ukraine's infrastructure, civilian manufacturing companies, and residential areas, causing widespread damage and disruption. President Zelenskiy expressed his gratitude to the international community for their support and called for continued solidarity in the face of Russia's aggression.
