The southern part of the Dnipro River island system in Kherson Oblast is seeing an escalation in Russian operations. They're aiming to set up shop on Buhaz Island, establish a bridgehead, and make a break for the other side of the Dnipro River.
According to Colonel Vladyslav Voloshyn, the Defense Forces of Ukraine's South, these pursuits mark a new operational front. The Russians are aggressively trying to infiltrate the waters surrounding the islands and have made several efforts over the past few days near Kizomys village, specifically targeting Buhaz Island.
Despite the pressure, Voloshyn states that the efforts remain fruitless and Ukrainian defense forces are doing their best to block these incursions. Ukrainian forces are holding their ground, thwarting every attempt by the Russians to cross the river.
These moves come as the situation on the Novopavlivka front has taken a turn for the worse, with Russian troops making their way towards the borders of Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk oblasts.
