Russia initiates aerial assault using combat drones against Ukraine - Russia attacks Ukraine with drone attacks

The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, now in its third and a half years, has taken a new turn with reports of Russian military launching air strikes using combat drones in Ukrainian territory.

Ukrainian military observers have reported several dozen enemy combat drones flying westwards, posing a significant threat to the country's security. As a result, more than half of Ukraine sounded air raid sirens, signalling the imminent danger of incoming drones.

The city of Kyiv, the capital, has not been spared from the conflict's reach. Air defense fire has been heard in Kyiv, suggesting the city is under threat. Shortly before midnight local time, air defense fire was reported by a correspondent of the German Press Agency.

The Kremlin is involved in the conflict, as they have launched these air strikes. However, the specific commander of the Russian special drone unit responsible for coordinating these airstrikes in Ukrainian rear areas remains unnamed in the available sources, following a reported destruction of his command post by Ukrainian forces.

The air strikes targeted locations in the Ukrainian hinterland, indicating a strategic move to disrupt the Ukrainian military's operations and weaken their defenses. The Ukrainian military, currently engaged in defense against a Russian invasion, is working tirelessly to protect their territory and citizens.

The situation remains tense, with the Ukrainian military and civilians bracing for potential further attacks. The international community continues to monitor the situation closely, hoping for a peaceful resolution to this long-standing conflict.
