Russia and Saudi Arabia Strengthen Economic and Travel Ties Amid Record Growth

Trade and travel between Russia and Saudi Arabia have surged in recent years. Over the past decade, their trade turnover has grown tenfold, with an 85% increase in the last year alone. At the same time, tourism between the two countries has also risen sharply, climbing tenfold over the past five years.

The two nations have been strengthening economic and transport ties. In August 2023, they launched regular air services, with the first scheduled flight from Riyadh to Moscow taking off on August 1. Russian airlines are now preparing to introduce more direct routes to Saudi Arabia.

The visa-free agreement, due to start in 2026, will likely further boost travel and trade. Direct flights and expanded export deals are expected to deepen economic ties. Both countries continue to build on their growing partnership in key sectors.
