Russia allegedlyInsufficient for significant military attack asserted by Zelensky

Ukraine is set to receive significant reinforcements for its air defense capabilities, with the delivery of missiles for the Patriot and Himars systems imminent. The news comes as Russia continues its attack on Ukraine, a conflict that has been ongoing for more than three and a half years.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed that Russia has prepared offensive operations along four main axes this year: Sumy, Nowopawliwka, Pokrovsk, and Saporizhzhia. However, Zelensky believes that Russia is currently unable to launch a major offensive in its war against Ukraine.

The deliveries are expected to occur through the NATO mechanism PURL ("Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List"). The first two packages, each worth 500 million US dollars, will also include missiles for Patriot and Himars systems. The exact timeline for the delivery of the missiles is not specified in the article.

Ukraine has already received more than two billion US dollars from its partners through the PURL mechanism. The new NATO mechanism coordinates the implementation of weapons deliveries that are procured in the US for Kyiv but financed by Ukraine's partners. The names of these partner countries are not disclosed in the article.

The Ukrainian armed forces have reportedly inflicted even greater losses on Russian forces in the operation in Sumy. According to Zelensky, the operation has already failed, with Russia suffering heavy losses, especially in personnel. At the beginning of August, the Ukrainian commander-in-chief Oleksiy Syrsky identified the situation as particularly critical in the Donetsk region on the fronts at Pokrovsk, Dobropillya, and at the border with the Dnipropetrovsk region at Nowopawliwka.

Ukraine is expecting further funds in October, bringing the total amount to around 3.6 billion US dollars. The deliveries are expected to strengthen Ukraine's air defense capabilities, providing a crucial boost in its ongoing struggle against Russian aggression.
