Runway Fashion Trends, Standout Moments, and Preferred Collections, as Perceived by Our Journalists
New York Fashion Week Highlights Spring/Summer 2026
New York Fashion Week (NYFW) kicked off with a variety of trends, observations, and standout collections for the Spring/Summer 2026 season. Bobby Schuessler, shopping director at our platform, discussed the shows with senior fashion editor Eliza Huber and senior fashion and social editor Tara Gonzalez.
Rachel Comey's brand and designs remained consistent and true to its identity, presenting a collection that was both timeless and modern. Khaite had a standout moment with a cropped khaki-colored jacket and a dark wash, rigid denim knee-length skirt. Eckhaus Latta showcased an apron-like look with a long pair of pants and a pale yellow color, while Sandy Liang featured funky patterns, a white lace skirt, and oversized sandals with huge buttons.
Eliza Huber attended the Tory Burch show and was impressed by a turquoise funnel-neck, knee-length trench coat paired with brown trousers. Meanwhile, Tara Gonzalez had a sentimental moment wearing a Moschino dress from the movie 13 Going on 30.
Rachel Scott made her debut at Proenza Schouler with her first collection for Spring/Summer 2026. Scott's vision was to blend her Caribbean heritage and artisanal craftsmanship with the brand's established New York minimalism and intellectual edge, bringing a fresh, richer, more inclusive, and inspiring interpretation that redefines the house's legacy while maintaining continuity. Her approach contrasted with the previous aesthetic by emphasizing handwoven details and storytelling rooted in femininity, diaspora, and familial histories, reflecting her background and signature style from her label Diotima.
Jennifer Lawrence was spotted wearing a styling hack to make 'boring' jeans-and-tee outfits look chic this fall. The long pendant necklace trend is evolving but not requiring new purchases every season. Trench coats in various lengths, including knee-length, are popular for spring 2026.
In other news, Susan Alexandra and Rachel Antonoff had a joint show where models wore clothing from Rachel Antonoff and carried Susan Alexandra bags. The show featured dogs available for adoption, adding a heartwarming touch to the event.
Lauren Adhav, a freelance fashion editor based in Los Angeles, also shared her thoughts on the season's trendiest manicures, putting six nail looks to rest. The hair products Chris McMillan can't live without have also been revealed.
