A Laughable Speculation: TSG Coach Brush Aside Pelé Resurrection Claims

Rumors of Pelé's Rebirth: TSG-Coach Addresses Resurrection Rumors - Rumors of Pelé's reincarnation stir conversation among faithful followers

Shop Talk

Christian Ilzer, the witty coach of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, can't help but chuckle at the ongoing chatter about his potential replacement. "It's hysterical that you're asking me this yet again - just like last week, just like two weeks ago," the 47-year-old quipped ahead of the 33rd Bundesliga matchday against VfL Wolfsburg on Friday (8:30 PM/DAZN).

For weeks, whispers of a separation between Hoffenheim and Ilzer have been doing the rounds, despite the Austrian only joining forces in Kraichgau last November. "In the end, I can only say that if you need a headline grabber, want to spin yarns without any substance, just write that Pelé has rose from the dead and we'll ink him for next season. That's all I have to say about that," Ilzer quipped.

Wagner Declines, Kwasniok Remains a Contender

As per reports from German Press Agency, it appears that Hoffenheim's top choice, Sandro Wagner, has knocked back the offer from the Hoffenheimers. Sources claim that "concrete negotiations" unfolded. Another candidate who's seemingly in the running is Lukas Kwasniok, who will be moving on from second-division side SC Paderborn in the summer.

For TSG, securing a tangible result against Wolfsburg is crucial to securing their spot in the Bundesliga. They currently have a five-point cushion over the relegation spot and a six-point edge on the first relegation spot. "We aim to reach our minimum goal as soon as possible," Ilzer stated. "Of course, we want to produce a performance that seals the deal."
