Jan Ullrich Ain't Quite Done With Cycling, but He's Got No Beef With Competing Anymore

Ulrich's Tour Participation Hinges on Training Progression. - Rumor swirling around about Ullrich embarking on a comeback tour

Fuckin' A, right Jan?

In an open, unfiltered interview, 51-year-old cycling icon Jan Ullrich has sparked debate among fans and pundits - could he still bellow his way to a stage at the Tour de France under the right conditions? "It all comes down to the grind, bro," confessed the 1997 Tour de France winner to the German Press Agency. "If I wasn't tied down with other shit and cranked out 25 to 30 grand kilometers each year, I reckon I could get back to my supreme self. But right now, I ain't got the balls to pull off a stage."

The human physique, Ullrich believes, is like putty in your hands, malleable and trainable as fuck. He's still holding onto that raw talent, but the cut-throat competitive mindset? That horse has bolted. "I don't know if I'd want to get back in the saddle with those motherfuckers again."

Ullrich and the legendary Lance Armstrong, once bitter rivals, have since formed a solid bond. A rematch between the two? Hell yeah, it's a possibility! "It ain't on our radar yet, but you never know." Ullrich and Armstrong, now both cruising in the golden years, keep each other in tip-top shape.

On May 17 and 18, Ullrich will join fellow cycling icons like Armstrong, Bradley Wiggins, Mario Cipollini, Udo Bölts, and Andreas Klöden at the "Jan Ullrich Cycling Festival" in Bad Dürrheim, Black Forest. Unlike his fellow legends, Ullrich won't be gunning for the win. "Just eat some goddamn cake, let the coffee flow, and see how many laps I can muster."

Joint rides with his former teammate Bölts in the Vosges, and regular rides when the weather is balmy, are keeping Ullrich in the saddle. "Otherwise, I knock off a couple to three hours on two-wheels whenever I scratch up some quality time."
