Prophesying a German Shock at Eurovision 2023: Abor & Tynna's "Baller" Breaks the Mold?

Rumor suggests a potential shocker from Germany with the possible collaboration of Abor and Tynna.

Alright, buckle up, it's almost that time of year again. Eurovision is just around the corner, heading to Basel in less than two weeks, on May 17. Reps from Deutschland, the ever-unexpected country in its own contest, are the Vienna siblings Attila and Tünde Bornemisza, performing as Abor & Tynna.

They were handpicked by none other than the infamous Stefan Raab in an exhaustive, joint ARD and RTL audition. Raab, as we all remember, managed to snag the ESC glory back in 2010 with Lena Meyer-Landrut and her winning number "Satellite" in Oslo.

Questions swirl around Abor & Tynna's potential to vertical leap past their competition in Basel. Vegas odds aren't shining too brightly upon them, but Google's numbers paint a different picture. "Baller" is giving stiff competition, keyword-wise, compared to the rest of the hopefuls.

Spain Vs. the World: "Esa diva" Takes the Top Spot

The mighty search engine giant, Google, has carefully evaluated the denizens most Googled Eurovision aspirants of 2023. According to the data, "Baller" accounts for about 13 percent of the queries, landing in second place, mere steps behind Spain's Melody and her powerhouse hit "Esa diva" with 14 percent.

France and Sweden share the bronze with scorers "Maman" and "Bara bada bastu," both boasting a solid 12 percent. The United Kingdom completes the top five with "What The Hell Just Happened?" from Remember Monday, boasting 11 percent.

The top ten also includes Claude (Netherlands) with "C'est la vie," JJ (Austria) with "Wasted Love," Lucio Corsi (Italy) with "Volevo essere un duro," Zoé Mé (Switzerland) with "Voyage," and Ziferblat from Ukraine with "Bird Of Pray."

Germany Favorites All Over Again

Insatiable German curiosity has evidently been directed at five of the above-mentioned entries, excellently omitting "Baller." In this order, the big-brained Germans have been incessantly Googling these stars: "Bird of Pray," "Bara bada bastu," "Wasted Love," "Voyage," and "Esa diva."

Whoa! So, which countries are betting big on Abor & Tynna? In the past 30 days, clicks on the hapless duo and their ethereal hit "Baller" were at a peak in Luxembourg, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Denmark.

Germany, one of the "Big Five" countries alongside France, Spain, the UK, and Italy, is auto-qualified for the final of the Eurovision Song Contest. The first heatwave rocks the stage on May 13, followed by wave two on May 15. Expect Stefan Raab to light up the RTL and RTL+ stage in Basel during a show on May 14. Don't forget, the Eurovision champion of 2023 will be crowned on May 17!

There's a catch though - as of yet, Google has no Trends data available for "Baller" or Abor & Tynna in relation to Eurovision; neither have they been specially mentioned in any recent Eurovision entries, to the best of my knowledge. Nonetheless, their potential is underestimated, as shown by the Google search trends. Catch 'em if you can, Eurovision fans!
