In the heart of Windsor Great Park lies Fort Belvedere, a historic gothic-revival mansion that, while smaller than some castles, still boasts significant size and grandeur. This estate is now at the centre of speculation, as credible reports suggest that Prince William and Kate Middleton are considering a move from their current family home, Adelaide Cottage, to Fort Belvedere.

The potential move is said to cater to the growing needs of the royal family, offering amenities such as a swimming pool and tennis court, ideal for their active children - Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. However, King Charles III reportedly disapproves of the high renovation costs associated with the move, viewing it as an unnecessary extravagance.

Fort Belvedere holds a rich history, having once been the home of King Edward VIII before his abdication. The estate features extensive grounds including lakes, paddocks, private stables, and staff cottages. Despite King Charles' reservations, multiple sources, including palace insiders and media outlets, have confirmed the rumour, making it a well-substantiated speculation rather than mere hearsay.

Other potential residences, such as the Royal Lodge or Windsor Castle, have reportedly been ruled out. However, it's important to note that the move has not been officially announced, and the claim remains a rumour.

Royal expert Jennie Bond has weighed in on the speculation, stating that it's hard to imagine Kate Middleton and Prince William wanting to move to Fort Belvedere, which is considered a castle. She emphasized that the happiness of the children is a top priority for William and Catherine, and the focus of their decision-making process is on providing the best environment for their family.

Adelaide Cottage, currently the family's home, is often referred to as "modest" in the context of royal residences. Nestled in a hidden corner of Windsor Great Park, it offers a more relaxed, cosy family life for the Wales family, as close to normality as possible given their status.

Despite Jennie Bond's dismissal of the claim, the rumour persists, with the Mirror and the Mail on Sunday both reporting on the potential move. However, Jennie Bond did not specify whether she believes the rumour of the family moving to Adelaide Cottage is true or false.

As the situation develops, it remains to be seen whether the Wales family will indeed make the move to Fort Belvedere or continue to call Adelaide Cottage their home. One thing is certain - the happiness and wellbeing of their children will continue to be the primary focus of their decision-making process.

Given the rumors, Fort Belvedere, with its amenities and vast grounds, might become a new residence for Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their children, as they aim to provide the best environment for their growing family. On the other hand, the potential move has been met with skepticism, as some celebrity experts express doubts about their interest in moving to a castle-like estate.
