Portuguese musician Rui Veloso is set to celebrate 45 years of his illustrious career with two unforgettable concerts in Lisbon and Porto. The events, scheduled for November 28th in Lisbon at Campo Pequeno and December 19th in Porto at Super Bock Arena – Pavilhão Rosa Mota, will feature unique arrangements by the award-winning American jazz musician and composer John Beasley.
Born in Lisbon in 1957, Rui Veloso launched his musical career in the capital. His journey has been marked by numerous successful albums, including "Ar de Rock" (1980), "Guardador de Margens" (1983), "Mingos & Os Samurais" (1990), and "Lado Lunar" (1995).
The "Ar de Rock" album, which featured the participation of Zé Nabo and Ramon Galarza, includes popular themes such as "Chico Fininho", "Rapariguinha do shopping", and "Sei de uma camponesa". Among Rui Veloso's most recognisable hits are "Não há estrelas no céu", "A Paixão (Segundo Nicolau da Viola)", "Porto sentido", "Porto Côvo", "Todo o tempo do mundo" and "Lado lunar".
Rui Veloso, in a long partnership with lyricist Carlos Tê, has inscribed several songs in the repertoire of Portuguese pop rock. His self-taught skills on the guitar have allowed him to collaborate with musical legends such as B.B. King, and be part of the Rio Grande and Cabeças no Ar.
The concerts will see the GNR Symphony Orchestra adding a new dimension to the performances, with new arrangements prepared specifically for these unique shows. Tickets for the concerts in Lisbon and Porto, priced between 25 and 75 euros, are now on sale.
