Record sum: RTL's 'Spendenmarathon' rings the cash register - RTL’s Charity Marathon raises €23M to transform children’s lives across Germany
RTL’s annual Charity Marathon has broken records by raising €23.077 million for children’s aid projects. This year’s total marks a near 50% increase compared to last year’s €16.62 million. Celebrities, athletes, and public figures joined forces to support the cause through donations, performances, and challenges.
The 24-hour telethon featured high-profile advocates, including Germany’s national football coach Julian Nagelsmann and his partner Lena Wurzenberger, who campaigned for greater inclusion of children with physical and intellectual disabilities. Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp funded healthy breakfasts for primary school children, while comedian Hape Kerkeling supported children with rare diseases. Actress Carola Holzner contributed to building a children’s hospice in Trier, and presenter Mareile Höppner backed a day hospice in Hamburg.
Stephen Schmitter, CEO of RTL Deutschland, thanked donors for their generosity and trust. The record-breaking sum will now fund initiatives across Germany aimed at improving children’s lives. Projects will focus on practical needs, from medical care to safe learning environments.
