Charity Expert: That Alone Can't Solve Country's Problems - RTL Telethon marks 30 years of fundraising for children in need

Germany’s long-running RTL Telethon returns this year for its 30th edition, aiming to raise funds for kids in need. The event, held in Ludwigshafen, has collected €306 million since 1996. This time, organisers have lined up high-profile supporters and creative stunts to boost donations once again.

Fundraising expert Wolfram Kons, who has led RTL’s charity efforts for decades, sees growing political recognition of the struggles families face. Though he acknowledges that charity alone cannot fix Germany’s deeper social issues, he remains hopeful about public generosity—especially among younger people.

The RTL Telethon continues its tradition of blending entertainment with fundraising. With €306 million raised over 30 years, the event remains a key platform for supporting vulnerable children. This edition’s mix of celebrity backing and creative challenges aims to keep the momentum going.
