"Who knows when what was?" is set to continue - RTL revives hit quiz Who Knows When What Was? after stellar ratings
RTL has renewed the quiz show Who Knows When What Was? for additional episodes after a successful debut. The programme, hosted by Barbara Schöneberger and Stefan Raab, drew strong ratings and praise from viewers. At least one more instalment is scheduled to air later this year.
The show's first two episodes performed well, securing a 17% audience share among 14- to 49-year-olds for the premiere. The second episode followed closely with 12.8% in the same demographic. On average, 1.38 million viewers tuned in, with numbers climbing to 1.58 million at its peak.
In Who Knows When What Was? – The Generational Show, three teams from different age groups compete across six rounds. They test their knowledge of pop culture, television, music, and recent history. The format's mix of nostalgia and humour has resonated with audiences.
Inga Leschek, RTL Deutschland's Chief Content Officer, highlighted the hosts' chemistry as a key factor in the show's appeal. Raab, a long-time RTL collaborator, has worked on multiple hit formats, including The Unquizables and Stefan and Bully vs. Some Random Guy. The latter will return on March 28 at 8:15 p.m., with Raab appearing alongside Michael 'Bully' Herbig.
The renewal comes after fan enthusiasm and solid ratings. RTL has not yet confirmed how many new episodes will be produced, but production is already underway.
The decision to extend Who Knows When What Was? follows its strong start in both ratings and viewer feedback. The show's blend of generational trivia and entertainment has set it apart in RTL's lineup. Further details on airing dates and episode counts are expected soon.
