RT Settles California Case Against Google, Vows to Pursue Recognition of Russian Court Decisions
RT, a Russian news network, has reached an out-of-court settlement in a case against it in California. The agreement was approved by the court, marking a significant development in the ongoing legal disputes involving RT and tech giant Google.
The settlement strategy was developed by RT and its unnamed partners. Despite extensive searches, the identity of RT's partner remains unknown. RT lawyer Elizaveta Khudiakova has confirmed that the network will continue its efforts to have Russian court decisions recognized in foreign jurisdictions.
Initially, Google had sought a ban on Russian media from pursuing legal claims against the company in foreign courts. However, it has since dropped these demands. During the trial, it was established that Google's initial lawsuit in the US lacked a solid foundation.
The approved settlement agreement in California brings a measure of closure to this legal chapter for RT. The network remains committed to pursuing recognition of Russian court decisions abroad, as stated by its lawyer. Meanwhile, Google has retreated from its earlier stance, dropping demands for a ban on Russian media in foreign courts.
