Regarding the stamps, Sir Michael Palin, a member of Monty Python, made a reference to a character from Monty Python's Flying Circus. Eric Idle, another member, created the medieval musical "Spamalot", which won a Tony award for best musical. Unfortunately, Terry Jones, another member of Monty Python, died from a rare form of dementia in 2020 at the age of 77.
David Gold, Royal Mail's director of external affairs and policy, made a statement about Monty Python's impact on global comedy. He said, "Monty Python has had an enduring influence on comedy, not just in the UK but around the world. These stamps celebrate the brilliance of their anarchic humour and their unique ability to challenge the norm."
