In a notable event, Melania Trump, the former First Lady of the United States, and Queen Camilla, the Queen Consort, recently visited Queen Mary's Dolls' House at Windsor Castle. The visit, which followed Melania's engagement with Queen Camilla, was a highlight of the day as the two women explored the intricate details of the world's largest and most famous dolls' house. Built between 1921 and 1924, this masterpiece was created under the direction of leading British architect Sir Edwin Lutyens for Queen Mary, the wife of King George V. Over 1500 of the best artists, craftsmen, and manufacturers of the early 20th century contributed to its creation. Queen Mary's Dolls' House is one of the highlights of the Royal Collection and offers a remarkable glimpse into the lives of the British royals of the 1920s. The dolls' house boasts electricity and running water, making it as true to life as possible. During their visit, Melania and Queen Camilla were shown various aspects of the dolls' house, including its library, which houses a copy of Alice in Wonderland belonging to Queen Elizabeth II. The library also includes a miniature book featuring Tom Parker Bowles's recipe for roast chicken and roast potatoes. In a unique initiative, Queen Camilla had launched a project in 2024 to create miniature books for Queen Mary's Dolls' House's library, in conjunction with her literacy charity work. After their tour of Queen Mary's Dolls' House, Melania took a short walk with the Queen to carry out engagements of her own. The visit to the Royal Library was one of these engagements, where Melania was able to further immerse herself in the rich history and culture of the British monarchy. Victoria Murphy, a contributing editor at Town & Country and an expert on the British Royal Family, reported on this event. Murphy, who has been reporting on the British Royal Family since 2010, has also interviewed Prince Harry and has travelled the world covering several royal tours. She is the author of the Town & Country book The Queen: A Life in Pictures, released in 2021. Murphy is also a frequent contributor to Good Morning America. It is noteworthy that President Trump had visited Chequers, the country residence of the Prime Minister, to discuss policy with Keir Starmer, the Leader of the Labour Party, during this time. This visit by Melania Trump and Queen Camilla to Queen Mary's Dolls' House marks a significant moment in the history of the dolls' house and offers a unique insight into the lives of the British royals of the past.
