Second Season for Royal Drama "Máxima" - Royal drama Maxima returns with Season 2 in April 2026

RTL has announced a second season of the royal drama Maxima, set to premiere in April 2026. The series will explore the early years of Queen Máxima and King Willem-Alexander's relationship, including their grand engagement and wedding. Plans for a third season and a spin-off are already underway.

Season 2 will focus on the couple's whirlwind romance and the intense public scrutiny they faced before their wedding. German actor Sebastian Koch returns as Claus von Amsberg, adding depth to the royal family's story. The new episodes will air on RTL+ in Germany from April 2, 2026, with weekly double bills.

The drama doesn't stop there. A spin-off, *The Other Royals – A Maxima Story*, is in development, shifting attention to other members of the Dutch royal family. Meanwhile, producers have confirmed that a third season of *Maxima* is already being planned.

The second season promises a closer look at the real-life events that shaped the royal couple's early years.
