Get ready, folks! On June 14, we're throwing a royal bash for King Charles III (76) in London! And guess what? Our German friends at ZDF are inviting us all to join!

Usually held on a June Saturday, the birthday of the monarch, even if they weren't born then, gets a grand celebration. A spectacle like no other—the military parade known as "Trooping the Colour" will pay tribute to our new king, with Charles gracing his third parade as the monarch. While hundreds of soldiers march, thousands watch from the streets, and hundreds of thousands tune in on their TVs, our British friends at the BBC will capture the entire event!

Mark your calendars, German viewers! On June 14, from 11:00 to 14:35 (CEST), tune into ZDF, or stream it via their web and app, to witness the "Trooping the Colour" extravaganza. Christina von Ungern-Sternberg, our beloved "ZDF Royal" host, will take you straight to the heart of the action, reporting from the Canada Gate, offering stunning views of Buckingham Palace! She'll Also be joined by ZDF's royal expert, Julia Melchior, and Hilke Petersen, the head of the ZDF London studio.

According to palace records, this magnificent event brings together more than 1,400 soldiers, 200 horses, and 400 musicians each year, showcasing "a great spectacle of military precision, equestrian art, and fanfares" to honor the sovereign. The route traditionally traverses from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade via the grand street The Mall. Wolf-Christian Ulrich, our intrepid ZDF correspondent, will walk us through this year's special event. Finally, after the performance, the king makes an appearance on the balcony with his family members, waving to the crowd, before watching a flyby by the Royal Air Force[1][2].
