On December 3rd, 2023, the Tirchenreuth Swimming Club will host its 28th edition of the Advent Cup swim meet at the indoor pool of the Stiftland Gymnasium. The event, open to all visitors, promises an action-packed day of aquatic competition.

The day will be divided into two sessions. The morning session will kick off with the 50m backstroke, 100m butterfly, 50m freestyle, and 100m breaststroke events. The afternoon session will see the 50m butterfly, 100m backstroke, 50m breaststroke, 100m freestyle, and 100m individual medley events take centre stage.

Competition will be fierce, with a total of 16 individual trophies and 3 team trophies up for grabs. A wide range of clubs, including SC Regensburg, TS Arzberg, SF Pegnitz, TSV 1860 Rosenheim, TV Waldsassen, TV Parsberg, SV Hof, TSV Jahn 1861 Freising, and the host club, Tirschenreuth Swimming Club, have a realistic chance of taking home the individual trophies. SC Schwandorf, SV Weiden, and the hosts are among the top contenders for the team trophies.

The Tirschenreuth Swimming Club will field its strongest team, including world cup starters Fynn Legat and Leonhard Fütterer, and the "future quartet" of women consisting of Marlene Züllich, DM participant Hanna Hirsche, Sandra Beinrucker, and Milena Franz. A total of 231 active participants from 11 clubs are expected to compete.

Meanwhile, off the pool, the Upper Palatinate region is experiencing its own set of events. The Zoigl Stube Oppl in Mitterteich will close in November, but cask sales will continue. Elsewhere, SG Nordoberpfalz, consisting of the Tirschenreuth Swimming Club and SV 08 Auerbach, fields the largest team with 75 participants and 347 registrations.

In other news, a burnt-out car with a body was discovered in Stetten near Neunburg vorm Wald, and the Amberg Criminal Police are investigating. Climate change is causing ice in the Alps to shrink, causing long-forgotten remnants like a ski lift to surface.

Lastly, Laura Dahlmeier's mother posted an emotional jewelry piece, which many followers see as a reminder of the former biathlete. A driver fell asleep on the B 299 near Grafenwöhr, leading to a collision with another vehicle, but all parties involved remained largely unharmed.
