Rottweiler viciously attacks and kills nine-year-old child - father brandishes knife in defense

In the picturesque village of Escrennes, France, a devastating incident has occurred. A 9-year-old boy lost his life in a tragic attack by a Rottweiler at his family home[1].

Four days ago, the news broke about the incident. The dog involved was described as a Rottweiler weighing approximately 60 kg[3]. The boy was alone with the family's dog at home when the attack occurred. The father was briefly away shopping when the dog bit the child on the head and neck, injuries from which the boy did not survive[1].

Upon returning home, the father found his son lying on the floor covered in blood, following a distress call from a neighbour who had heard the boy screaming[2]. In an attempt to protect his son, the father stabbed the aggressive dog with a knife. The police were then called and used an electric stun gun on the dog before it was eventually euthanised.

The investigation will examine whether the father had a permit to keep the Rottweiler, classified as a potentially dangerous dog in France[1]. A separate investigation has been opened against the father for manslaughter through negligence.

Elsewhere, a different concern has arisen in the city of Fellbach. Two Asian tiger mosquitoes have been found there[4]. These small insects can carry dangerous viruses, and the city is calling for vigilance.

Meanwhile, in a completely unrelated story, Helmut Duppel found a photo of the Leonberg horse market in his barn, taken 35 years ago[5].
